Originally formed in Warrington in early 80's Explained Emma played a mix of post punk / new wave indie / pop. Gigged extensively in the north west at major venues such as The Hacienda, Gallery Club etc. before moving to London in 1983 to coincide with the release of their first single "Unnecessary Strain". The band went through several line up changes with only Peter Higgins and Paul Dackombe remaining constant as the writers. Played most major venues in London in the 80's and gigged on the university circuit nationwide. Appeared on the BBC's Oxford Road Show and single received airplay on national and regional radio stations. Live playing stopped in late 80's when they concentrated on writing. Now are about to release material from the back catalogue for distribution in UK, Germany, Japan and are putting the band back together for some live shows in 2008.
